This fall will be a hot one in the beautiful city of Dresden, Saxony!

 

The Burning Bizarre Convention is a combinattion of a juggling-convention, a music-festival and fire-arts-performances. It'll take place Tante Ju at the Industriegelände Dresden (An der Schleife 1) from September 17th to September 19th.

 

We'll have ourselves transferred to the fascinating world of flying balls and clubs and the mind-boggling play with flames and fire by taking part in juggling- and fire-arts-workshops. Live performances of bands and Djs, art-performances, gargantuan fire-sculptures and a sophistically choreographed Gala-Show will be guaranteed to give us everlasting memories of a most creative weekend.

 

On site camping, camp fires, shared breakfast and a site that is decorated lovingly will be the perfect background to which we can juggle and practise together. The fire- juggling- and artistic-workshops will provide a good opportunity to improve the skills of beginners and advanced alike and it will all be lots of fun!

 

In addition there will be numerous other creative workshops. The artists of the joint studios Verzahnungsfabrik invite us to learn how to carve porotone, how to make fine pottery, how to make puppets/dolls and there'll be a blacksmith to show us his craftsmanship.

 

After the workshops there'll be live performances by bands and Djs. On the Open Stage everyone is invited to present his own skills before the excited audience.

 

The highlight of the festival will be the Gala-Show on Saturday night. Music and dance will be combined with the exceptional performances of professional juggling- and fire-artists in a sophisticated choreography. Especially the fire-sculptures used within the performance will be excessively impressive. These metal pieces of art are the most precious forms of phantastic imagination, abstract objects or even figures of the most bizarre kind. Whith diameters of up to ten feet they create -through the power of heat and flames- a life of their own. When they're set off they oscillate, sway and alter and start to "dance" a mystic flaming round dance with the artists. Thus a mystic world of flames, dance and movement comes to life.

 

Food and drinks will be provided at all times. On Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm everyone is invited to join the artists' brunch with the jugglers and the artists of the Verzahnungsfabrik!

 

The planning of the convention is in high gear right now. A considerable number of young fire-artists and freelance artists have joined together in order to realise this project. This website is meant to be a forum to fire jugglers and an information platform about the Burning Bizarre Convention 2010 in Dresden.
